I found 3 BIG pieces of GOLD hiding beneath a sand dune at my famous gold claim, Pickerton!
Pickerton is known for producing larger pieces of gold, the pieces we prospectors call “pickers”, and there was one spot on the claim that I had been meaning to investigate for YEARS.
A huge amount of sand and loose rock had built up over the bedrock, forming a large sand dune around a big boulder. I’ve always wondered what might be hiding underneath it, but there was far too much material for my metal detector to detect any gold down on the bedrock.
So today I finally decided to move it ALL!
It took hours of digging to clear away enough sand and loose rock to get my metal detector close to the bedrock. Then it was finally time to find out whether all that work was worth it.
It was!
I found three beautiful gold pickers, along with a bunch of smaller gold flakes. And, of course, the best piece of gold was hiding exactly where experience told me it would be...
UNDER THE BIG BOULDER!
Gold is ALWAYS under the big boulders!
Join me for another day of gold prospecting, digging and metal detecting at Pickerton as I uncover what has been hiding beneath this sand dune for years.
