Zinc Iron GEL battery

Here I play with the idea of a membrane-free zinc–iron gel battery, where I use ZnCl₂ on the negative side and FeCl₃ on the positive side of the cell, both gelled with fumed silica. The cell performs well, achieving an OCV of 1.47 V (1.5 V when fully charged). Of course, some ion diffusion is still occurring, but at a much slower rate.
