Breaking Other People's Pottery, My Time at the 2026 Southwest Kiln Conference

The Southwest Kiln Conference is an annual gathering of potters, archaeologists, and enthusiasts who come together to explore and recreate ancient Southwestern pottery techniques. This year it was held at Salmon Ruins in Bloomfield, New Mexico and I was there to capture all of the fun and heartbreak as potter was either successfully fired or destroyed using the ancient firing processes.
