Macintosh Portable Computer

This is sort of a review / overview of a vintage Apple Macintosh Portable laptop that I've been playing with. I got it working with a new power supply, and it seems to work great! Since I have too many old computers, I'll be putting this on eBay (search for "saveitforparts" on there if you're interested, but it will only be up for about a week after this goes live).


This was Apple's first major attempt at a laptop in 1989 (aside from some questionable IIc experiments). It has an active-matrix screen and a built-in hard drive, and amazingly everything turns on and runs (aside from the battery). This particular model has an optional numeric keypad installed instead of the typical trackball that came with these.
