This is a look inside a 2000GPH Bilge pump. This one uses a 12 volt motor with a bearing on each end and the water is kept out with a greased shaft seal. When I took it out of the box the rubber bushing that guides out the cable leads was not seated properly which could have contributed to water getting inside the housing. I have noticed that these pumps tend to fail after several years of intermittent use, and I suspect it's moisture getting in and seizing the bearings that causes the issues. I'm going to add a bit of extra grease to the shaft seal and in future videos I will keep tabs on how many hours I run this thing and then we can have a look inside a year down the road and see how it all looks.
