We've been digging tunnels through sandstone for a few years now, and this is the main tool I like to use. It's made by XtremePowerUS, and is their Model 61102, 1400W demolition hammer. While it looks a bit like a hammerdrill, it doesn't technically have any rotary or drilling motion. It's more of a handheld electric jackhammer.

I've found that these work great under hobby mining conditions. They dig the sandstone quickly and efficiently, and they hold up pretty well to the conditions. We do use some minor modifications like a 100-micron screen over the air intake, which helps keep sand out of the motor a little longer. Eventually the sand still gets in there, but it lasts a few years this way.

You can find these on Amazon, eBay, or other sites. Make sure to get the 1400W version, there are some other models like a 1000W and 1200W that don't offer the same power and impact energy.

Again this is NOT a sponsored review and I'm not getting any compensation for this video, I just really like these tools!
