Digging my own borehole through rock with a DIY drill rig!
In this video, I take my homemade borehole drilling rig down to 13 metres through topsoil, clay, gravel, and sandstone. Along the way I share the challenges, the lessons I’ve learned, and why borehole drilling is such a specialist (and expensive!) job.

This project is part of my journey towards installing a geothermal ground loop for renewable heating and cooling. In the next video, I’ll be installing the geothermal pipe and grout to put this hole to good use.
