Amazon bought Crytek's CryEngine!? What will they do with it?

After Crytek went nearly bankrupt in 2014 nobody really knew how exactly they made it out of that financial Crysis! No pun intended! ;) Anonymous sources have now mentioned to Kotaku, that Amazon has invested big money in buying some kind of licensing rights to CryEngine.
