USB flea trap teardown - with schematic

This unit is the modern LED equivalent of a classic flea trap that uses a small tungsten bulb to lure fleas onto a sticky mat at night. It's interesting to note that some of the traditional style are being shipped with LED bulbs.

The question is... Is it just the light that lures the fleas, or does it actually require the heat too.

There is an odd twist in the circuitry that involves a load resistor across the USB supply rails. This may be to pass enough current to keep a USB power bank awake, or it might be to generate a small amount of heat.

I tested this under my bed for 24 hours and it didn't catch anything. Another 24 hours in a different part of the house also caught nothing.
Not that I thought there was anything for it to catch. I like to think that aside from the random spiders, that my home is mainly bug free.
