I made 52 dorodango as gifts!
I gave them to everyone who came to celebrate my very first concert in the Netherlands!
I made them little by little, every day, over about two months.
Most of the guests had never heard of dorodango, so I thought they might just think it was a stone. So as I handed each one over, I explained: this is actually made from mud, polished until it shines!
Everyone was so surprised. It seemed like they had never seen anything like it before. They couldn’t believe that mud could glow like that.
I was so happy they loved them.
They enjoyed the singing, and they enjoyed the dorodango too. And that day, I also brought homemade Japanese mochi. Do you know mochi?
It’s made from glutinous rice and has this wonderfully soft, chewy texture. So delicious! My child loves it too.
If you ever spot mochi somewhere, please give it a try. You won’t regret it!
So, yes. I am a dorodango teacher.
For step-by-step instructions, check out my long video: how to make dorodango in 2 hours. Everything is explained in detail there.
The tools I use are available through the link in my profile.
With love,
Noriko☺️❤️
