Warranties Are Useless - A Saveitforparts Rant

This is the sad tale of what happens when a professional dumpster diver tries buying a new, name-brand product! (I don't have a project or build in this video, it's just me complaining for 5 minutes :-) )

Way back in 2021 I bought a Craftsman weedwhacker, recalling ye olde time when that brand meant something. After it broke on the 3rd use, I tried another thing people used to do in the olden days: A warranty repair.

That was the last time I ever saw the weedwhacker. It's now March of 2023, and for 15+ months the repair place either lost it, gave up on it, or otherwise didn't do anything. After calling them monthly for updates, I finally got a check in the mail from the manufacturer. Meanwhile, I probably spent more than the check is worth driving between stores, sitting on hold on the phone, etc.

I guess this is one of those learning experiences, now I've learned:
- Name brands mean nothing but higher prices
- Warranties are a waste of time and money
- Buying anything new is for suckers!

So it's back to my dumpster diving and garage sale ways!
