Got a big pile of 3D printer waste sat in your workshop? Well, here’s how you can recycle it at home using just an oven and cheap, silicone moulds! ♻️
With 3D printing being so popular, the amount of waste that's being generated is massive - from Bambu poop and support rafts to failed prints and expired filament. And while there are machines out there to turn waste back into usable filament, they can be super expensive and tricky to get right.
In this video, we’re keeping it as simple as possible. We show you how to melt down your 3D printer waste to make awesome, colourful plastic items right at home, without needing complex gear.
⚠️ IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE:
If you’re going to give this a go, DO NOT use the oven you cook food in! Be sure to use a dedicated oven for plastic recycling. We grabbed a cheap, second-hand toaster oven for our workshop. They are super easy to find online or at a local charity shop for next to nothing and it keeps your food completely safe.
So, have a go, get creative with your colour blends, and let us know in the comments what you’d make out of your 3D printer waste!
