In this episode of Mellow Labs, I return to improve my automatic battery charger project. Initially, it used two servos for battery handling and charging, but I faced issues like servo strain and overheating. I replaced these with a single stepper motor and a redesigned drum mechanism for better efficiency. I detail my journey of trial and error, from prototyping to refining the design. The episode covers the mechanical and electrical aspects, including the motor selection and circuitry, controlled by a Raspberry Pi Pico. This advanced version showcases my problem-solving skills and dedication to innovation. The project files are available on Patreon, and I hint at future adaptations for other rechargeable batteries.
