In the making of ancient replica pottery it is important to find a clay similar to what the old potters used. In this video I go looking for the clay used to make pottery in the Little Colorado River valley during the 1200 to 1300s. This grey colored clay was used to make both red ware and white ware pottery. Come with me as I search the back roads of Apache County Arizona for clay and see what I was able to find.
