There is one obvious issue with this unit, the fan needs more space between it and the power supply to improve airflow. Other than that, this unit is quite well built.
As always, the power supply does pose a risk if it does not have good electrical separation in its transformer. I haven't torn the power supply in this light apart (yet).
This is a dual colour warm-white and cold-white unit that can create a wide range of colour temperatures. It can be set locally or controlled via a DMX network.
Biggest surprise was discovering that this fixture responds to RDM (Remote Device Management), a bidirectional communication protocol that allows lighting fixtures on a network to identify themselves, show their location on request (by lighting and/or moving) and then accept remote configuration of their main setup parameters and their DMX address. This means that you can set up a long run of lights remotely.
This unit seems to use a standard two colour 100W LED with each section configured as 100 LED chips in a 10 by 10 array. I tested the power as 40W per colour and 80 W total. Much higher than I was expecting.
The control module has potential for use in other projects. It is based on an ARM Cortex processor with what seems to be increasingly refined software. The unit should be able to accommodate a wide input voltage range and can have the current sense resistors adjusted to adapt it to driving other LEDs.
The best way to access the unit is to remove the bracket/stand and split the two halves (two hex screws) and then remove the two screws at each end that attach onto one of the halves. That way the side can be lifted off for easy access.
This came from AliExpress as a Leleght 100w cob par light. But unfortunately the link is now dead.
It cost an unusually low £22 shipped from a UK warehouse.
It's worth mentioning that this type of light is often called a PARcan after the type of light it emulates - namely a Parabolic Aluminised Reflector lamp. The original tungsten PARcans are very power hungry, with the PAR64 usually being rated 1000W.
