I've been a fan of the August Schell Brewing Company since I moved to Minnesota. They have a beautiful historic brewery in the small town of New Ulm, and they're the 2nd oldest family-owned brewery in the US. In addition to their historic line of brews, they also produce the popular Grain Belt line of beverages.

Since many historic Minnesota breweries used sandstone caves to store ice and beer, I was curious what Schell's might have underneath their property. It turns out that part of the cave complex still exists, and is still used for barrel aging beer! We were able to take a peek at what's left of the original caves, and learn some of the history behind them.

This video is more history / interview than most of my usual projects. If you'd like to see more videos like this focusing on local caves or other historic spots, let me know in the comments!

You can find more info on Schell's at their website, https://www.schellsbrewery.com, including brewery and cave tours!
