Some Regs applicable to lights ...• Where flexible conductors enter a luminaire, as, for example, when a bulkhead fitting or batten lamp holder is used, the conductors should be able to withstand any heat likely to be encountered or sleeved with heat resistant sleeving (Regulation 559.5.3.2) • A ceiling rose, unless specially designed for the purpose should have only one flexible cord (Regulation 559.5.1.202) • A ceiling rose shall not be installed in any circuit operating at a voltage normally exceeding 250 volts (Regulation 559.6.1.2) • Where a flexible cord supports or partly supports a luminaire, the maximum mass supported shall not exceed 5 kg (Regulation 559.5.2) • For circuits on a TN or a TT system, the outer contact of every Edison screw or single centre bayonet cap type lamp holder shall be connected to the neutral conductor (Regulation 559.5.1.206) • Semi-conductors shall not be used as isolating devices (Regulation 537.2.2) but may be used to functional switching (537.2.2 NOTE:) i.e. in a dimmer switch.
