DIY Modern Hat Rack || Quick Cuts

We're working on the edit for our next big build, so in the mean time we figured we'd make a quick hat rack to organise Matt's cap collection a little better.

We used some scrap 18mm birch plywood and cut it to fit the slightly awkward space on the wall. We drilled angled holes for the dowels to help stop the hats from falling off. We also edge-banded the plywood with some pine strips to help hide the exposed edge. We gave the whole thing a coat of spray varnish and the dowels were painted white. We also added a thin piece of plywood behind to give a shadow gap against the wall. This just adds a little bit of depth to the project rather than have it sit flat on the wall. By doing this we also managed to avoid having any exposed screws. Instead, we used VHB tape to stick the hat rack to the backing piece.
