I go hiking deep into the Arizona backcountry looking for the source of red paint used to make ancient Salado Polychrome pottery. Salado Polychrome has a very consistent color of red paint which seems to imply that it was coming from one source. This video explores the story behind this red paint, what we know from the past and how I am approaching recreating authentic Salado Polychrome pottery.
