ROSDevDay2020 Speaker: Oscar Lima, Researcher @ DFKI, German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence

Speech Title: ROSPlan, a framework that provides a generic method for task planning in a ROS system
Speech time: 04:30 PM CEST

**About the Speech**
The ROSPlan framework provides a generic method for task planning in a ROS1 system.
In the past years, there has been interesting progress in the research community on AI task planning. In particular, the International Planning Competition offers in each edition multiple planners which the robotics community can profit from. But the key question remains: How can we use them on a real robot? - That’s what ROSPlan is about. As an interesting alternative to state machines (which are typically used in robotics), task planning offers much more flexibility which can be built on top of your existing state machines with some refactoring. In the ROSDev 2020 tutorial, we will show an example with the turtlebot3 and the integration with move base in an exploration mission, where the robot needs to visit a set of previously unknown waypoints. See you there!
