Cashback and refunds are two of the most confusing things in YNAB. They consistently trip people up and cause tons of frustration. But since they go hand in hand, I'll be sharing exactly how to deal with them both in one video.

While I love YNAB, unfortunately, it can be pretty confusing. The good news is that YNAB has but two main goals

Goal 1: Help you plan and budget your money in the most effective way possible.

Goal 2: Execute goal 1 in the most realistic way possible, accurately reflecting what happens in real life.

When you wrap your head around this, it will start to make sense. YNAB is trying to emulate real life.

Returns in real life = money was never actually spent, so put it back in that category and then move it to a new category since you no longer want clothes.

Cashback in real life = windfall money, so enter it as to be budgeted and transfer it from the cc payment to any category that you like.
