The Final Push at the Quarry, Before We Shut It Down!

This is the moment we've been working toward!

After days of breaking rock, moving boulders, and carefully working our way deeper into the quarry, it's finally time to expose and pull the main vein of Ocean Picture Stone. This is the material we've been chasing since the excavator first arrived, and now we get to see if all the hard work has paid off.

This project is also part of the ongoing partnership between Dan Hurd Prospecting and Grizzly Discoveries Inc.. Grizzly is a Canadian mineral exploration company with extensive mineral properties throughout southeastern British Columbia, and our partnership allows us to work together exploring these properties while pursuing both their mineral potential and unique lapidary materials such as Ocean Picture Stone.

Once the vein has been removed, we finish up the excavation, clean the quarry, and begin reclaiming the site. Responsible mining doesn't end when the stone comes out of the ground—it means leaving the site in excellent condition for the future.

Did we uncover enough quality Ocean Picture Stone to make the entire project worthwhile? You'll have to watch to find out!

In the final episode, Dayna and I return on foot to carefully sort through everything the excavation revealed, selecting the very best pieces to become beautiful lapidary slabs, cabochons, and other handcrafted treasures.
