How I take pictures of my rocks and minerals.

This is just a short video showing how I go about taking pictures of the rocks I sell on my website. Yes I oil them because I sell rough lapidary stone, and i want to show off what the stones would look like polished. Often people will just wet them, but because I live in a hot dry climate, water evaporates too fast for me to use it in photography, the black background lacking colour, helps the camera bring out the colour of the stone. And excess amounts of light help with the hand held focus because the shutter speed is very fast. Also makes the item brighter while making the background darker.
