I just returned from a two-week trip to Japan, where I organized and experienced my own Dorodango workshop tour in Kyoto and Tokoname.

In this video, I’ll share my experience learning Dorodango techniques from a traditional plaster master in Kyoto.
He kindly showed me how to create the core (the inner ball) of a Dorodango, explaining each step and material in detail.

I also joined another workshop in Tokoname, Aichi — a town known for its ceramics — where I learned a different method using pottery techniques. I’ll share that in another video soon!

Special thanks to Mitani-san, the kind and incredibly skilled plaster craftsman who generously shared his knowledge and techniques.

Don’t forget to leave a thank-you comment for Mitani-san! He shared so many amazing tips!

Please check out his work — he’s such a warm-hearted and inspiring person!
