It looks just like Blue Apatite. But it’s mud. 🩵✨
Doesn’t it look just like a glowing gemstone? These are being made as rewards for our crowdfunding supporters. Each reward includes a dorodango kit with all the tools and materials I use, together with one of my own pieces.
I am holding a concert on May 9th in Rotterdam. If you live in the Netherlands, I would love for you to join us. 🇳🇱🩷
Even if you can’t make it, you can support from anywhere in the world, from just 10 euros. Check out Noriko’s Concert Crowdfunding in my bio.
You can find the full tutorial on how to make this on my YouTube channel, including the theory behind why mud shines and a full explanation of the materials.
And here are some questions I often get!
✳︎ What happens if it gets wet?
It will absorb water and turn back into mud. You can return it to the earth, or start fresh and make a new one. It is a very sustainable kind of play.
✳︎ What happens if it breaks?
If you scroll back through my videos, you can find one where I turn a broken dorodango back into mud and make it again. Inside, it really is just soil.
✳︎ Is it hard?
Yes, it is hard. Please do not throw it at anyone!
✳︎ What kind of soil do you use?
Soil rich in clay and silt is what makes it shine. If you are using pottery clay, look for one that contains silt.
