How to Make Laser Welds Look Like TIG Welds | xTool MetalFab Laser Welder Review

xTool finally sent their MetalFab laser welder for review, and in this video I'm putting it through a full hands-on test.

The MetalFab combines handheld laser welding, laser cutting, and laser cleaning into a single modular platform powered by a 1200W fiber laser.

In this review, I test:

2mm - 6mm stainless and carbon steel welding
3mm 6061 aluminum welding
Handheld laser cutting on stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and threaded rod
Standard laser cleaning and the optional MaxClean attachment
Built-in presets vs custom settings
Different scan widths, frequencies, and wire feed rates

I'll also cover setup requirements, shielding gas options, air quality requirements, safety features, and share some tips I learned while dialing in the machine.

Overall, this is one of the most capable handheld laser systems I've used, and it's about to get a serious workout building the aluminum battery enclosure and finishing the chassis for my electric dirt bike project.
