Burning some good quality nitrocellulose (Flash Cotton, Gun Cotton) in my hands. Well made nitrocellulose such as this burns cleanly enough to leave skin only slightly warm, even in such large quantities as I used. It is not recommended to ignite nitrocellulose in any other way than the intended use stated by the manufacturer.

This is the same chemical ping pong balls, fingernail polish, guitar picks, and fine wood varnish is made of. In this form it is used for magic tricks and small special effects.

In fireworks, it is used as a binder in some star compositions that may not be wet with water. It is also used as a coating on waterproof visco fuse.
