Small TV Dish Modified For HRPT Weather Satellites - Trash Antenna Build w Beer Cans & Duct Tape!

Since folks keep asking what they can do with their little rooftop TV dish, I figured I'd better do a video with one! This is actually a little smaller than most, it's designed to be a portable, fold-up satellite antenna for use on the go. I modified it for use in the microwave L-band (~1.7ghz), using some scrap wire and pipe, a beer can, duct tape, zipties, and hot glue!

I'm using a Software Defined Radio (SDR) and a filter/amplifier tuned for this and other weather satellites. You can find them at the links below (I get a small cut as an Amazon affiliate, so it helps the channel!)
