These common ornaments have been available for several decades, and the circuitry seems to have remained very consistent over that time.
Although they are called perpetual motion ornaments they actually use a battery powered magnetic kicker for a pendulum assembly.
They look good though, and achieve a very high run time from a set of batteries.
The simple kicker coil has huge scope for making larger wall mounted ornamental pendulums. It's worth buying these ornaments just for the coil.
