A sluice is a very useful tool you can make for yourself or you can improve if you already own one. It’s a fairly easy project and if you do it on the cheap, you could probably do one up for $30 or even less.

You can process perhaps 10 to 20 times as much gravel with a sluice that you can with a pan in the same time. They are super easy to use once they have been set up properly just feed the gravel in at a reasonable rate and it does the work for you. Run correctly they work very well to capture both large and fine sized gold. Sluices are used as a basic gold extraction gravel processing device used all over the world.
