I've experimented with a few cell-phone-based trail cameras for remote areas, and the Spypoint Link Micro series is one I really like. In this video I'm looking at both the current (LTE) model and the older ("4G") model.

If you're thinking of buying one of these, note that "4G" on the front doesn't actually mean cellular 4G, it was just some marketing gimmick and was actually 3G (which no longer works in the US). If you want one that works with modern cellular providers you'll need one marked "LTE".

I've also had a few issues with payments to the Spypoint company, based in Canada. Sometimes I have to call my bank to pre-authorize Canadian transactions.

Other than those issues, these have been a great series of cameras, and I've bought and installed several. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a reasonably-priced remote camera for wildlife scouting, security, research, weather monitoring, time lapses, etc.
