For robotics teachers: How to Implement ROS 2 Obstacle Avoidance (C++) | Open Class #3

In this Open Class, you'll learn how to create a ROS 2 node that combines LiDAR sensing with velocity control to implement naive obstacle avoidance behavior.

You'll build a node that subscribes to laser scan data, processes range measurements to detect obstacles, and publishes velocity commands to steer the robot away from collisions.

You will learn:

✅ Combining ROS 2 subscribers and publishers in a single node
✅ Processing sensor_msgs/LaserScan data for obstacle detection
✅ Implementing decision-making logic based on sensor inputs

============================

[For Robotics Teachers Open Class], a weekly series of videos by The Construct Robotics Institute, aims to make robotics education easier by helping teachers teach a wide range of robotics topics through hands-on practice.

Each session provides a ROS-based project (referred to as ROSJECTs 🦾 📁) for all attendees, including notebooks, code, and robot simulations. Led by ROS expert Desire, you'll see how robotics teaching and hands-on practice come together in real time.
