America is losing its smartest people…
By the numbers alone, 80% of postdoc researchers now report they are looking for positions outside of the US, the number of US researchers applying for positions in Europe has tripled and Just across the border, applications from American scientists looking for jobs in Canada rose 41% while Canadian scientists looking for jobs US fell by 13%
Federal agencies lost over 10,000 doctoral-level STEM and health experts over the past year, hospitals are running low on skilled practitioners entering the field, and even in purely profit driven enterprises, people like AI researchers are (rather loudly) finding opportunities abroad… These are also only the positions that we know about…
And well… this shouldn’t really be happening right?
