Firing Salado Polychrome replica pottery in an authentic outdoor, above-ground firing using mesquite wood. The max-temperature was 820 C and the total firing time was something less than 30 minutes. Clay slips tested were various smectite types from the Colorado Plateau and some Wyoming Bentonite that was purchased online.
