Why Gold Doesn't Always Look Like a Nugget (And What It Actually Is)

Learn to identify natural gold in its many forms. Moving beyond the standard rounded shape helps you spot more gold in the field. Many prospectors look only for classic gold nuggets, but this ignores the wide variety of formations found in nature. I examine several specimens, from gold embedded in quartz to smaller, distinct pieces held in a vial. Understanding these variations helps you recognize what might otherwise be overlooked in your pan or sluice. Developing an eye for these shapes is essential for successful prospecting. By studying these examples, you sharpen your recognition skills, ensuring you don't walk past productive material. These prospecting tips will help you diversify your search and understand the geology of your site.
