A LIDL bit of LED landfill (with a nice driver)

A look at the construction and driver circuitry of a disposable LED light fitting.
I'm really not a fan of disposable lighting like this, as it forces non-technical people to do electrical work themselves, or pay the high costs of hiring an "approved" contractor of unknown skill.
Although the packaging implies that the light can be repaired by an electrician, it is just not viable to waste money on that. The "bulbs" on this light can't be changed. But on a plus note, the driver is well made and looks as though it has very good electrical separation.
The driver is a constant current unit with an output current of 260mA and a voltage range of 25-40V making it suitable for between 9 and 13 one-watt LEDs wired in series. It may actually be viable to buy the entire light just for the driver.
