We’ve always wanted to recycle plastic bottles - but unlike bottle tops, they’re a whole different beast. So we teamed up with our friend Igor from @TylmanDesign to learn everything we needed to know about DIY PET recycling 💪
We started collecting bottles from friends and family, and when Igor visited our workshop, he introduced us to his clever PETmachine - a wonderful bit of kit that turns plastic bottles into hollow 3D printer filament. First, we had to clean them up and remove the grooves so they were nice and flat, and then we were ready to get PETmachining!
Once we had our beautiful new filament, we had a think about what to make - and figured a recycling bin felt like the perfect way to put this waste to good use. We’re now using it to store all the tops and bottoms that don’t go through the machine, ready for kerbside recycling ♻️
Igor’s designed the PETmachine so most of it can be 3D printed at home, with just the mechanical and electronic parts sent out - or you can get a fully assembled one ready to go. So if you fancy getting one for yourself, you can use code BROTHERSMAKE for 10% off at tylmandesign.com ⚡
