Top Reasons Why Mining Is The Unsung Hero Of Modern Society

Why mining is good – because we need this stuff. Want to live the life you are currently living or perhaps something even better? Then you need the things that are mined – because our tech is dependent on it. If it can’t be grown, it has to be mined. Now I totally agree that historically, mining reclamation laws were too weak to even nonexistent. But last time I looked at my calendar, it’s not 1875 anymore. Modern reclamation is a whole other story. They must post bonds sufficient to clean things up if the companies don’t do it. I also want to say that because of our stringent environmental laws, as much mining as possible should be done here – both for our national security, but also to reduce pollution. If you oppose mining in developed countries, you support increased pollution. In the developed countries we have strong environmental and reclamation laws. In the developing nations, the laws are much weaker or are simply not enforced. If you are against mining and you don’t want extra pollution, your other choice is to live like a caveman. It’s not surprising that no one wants to give up their tech. But - If you don’t want to give up your tech and oppose mining in the developed nations, then you must support the increase of pollution in the developing nations.
