No coin? No problem

Ever been caught without a £1 coin at the worst time? We were too, so we teamed up with Castlepoint Shopping Centre and made our own trolley tokens. The best thing? They’re all made from bottle tops collected from around Castlepoint. Not only do they work perfectly, they help reduce plastic heading to landfill. Turning trash into trolley treasure 🛒✨

This wasn’t just a fun project — it was part of Castlepoint’s ongoing commitment to reduce plastic waste and give it a new purpose. They've been collecting HDPE bottle tops from shoppers, stores, and from their own general waste, with help from their brilliant site team. Once they’d gathered enough bottle tops, they sent them our way for the transformation.

Bottle tops are donated by the public, by coffee shops on site and saved from the general waste by the awesome site team at Castlepoint. Then they come to us for sorting into their plastic types and cleaned. Once we have enough HDPE tops ready to use, we shred them in our granulator and heat them in our manual injection moulding machines. The mould is placed underneath and the plastic goo is injected into the mould. Once cool, they’re snipped, assembled and ready to be used. The best part is, they can be recycled over and over again back into trolley tokens or any of our other eco-friendly products.

A huge shoutout to @plasticpreneur for designing this incredible mould. They had to precisely calculate the shrinkage of HDPE to make sure that the tokens fit perfectly, and they nailed it on the first attempt.
