What purity is natural gold? Is it always or nearly always the same? Can the color tell you what you want to know? What color is gold? Natural gold is NEVER pure and this why it varies a lot in color – even nuggets of about the same color can vary a good bit in purity. The natural silver rich gold alloy known as electrum occurs when silver is present in the ores in large amounts. Many miners will over estimate the purity of the gold they mine - so lets look at how pure natural gold really is.
