Join Jason, Harry, and me as we head underground into the historic Imperial Mine to explore the old workings and collect a large bulk sample of some very unusual ore.
This mine is known for its mariposite-rich material—a striking green, chromium-bearing mica that not only makes a beautiful lapidary stone but is also associated with gold and silver mineralization. During our trip, we collect nearly 300 pounds of ore to haul back for testing.
The plan? Crush it, process it, and smelt it in a future video to find out just how much gold and silver this green ore is hiding.
Of course, we couldn't leave all the pretty stuff behind. We also collect several pieces of high-grade mariposite for slabbing and polishing to see how it performs as a gemstone and decorative stone.
Will this historic mine produce enough precious metals to make the effort worthwhile? You'll have to stay tuned for the next video to find out!
