Swarming is the process by which a new honey bee colony is formed when the queen bee leaves the colony with a large group of worker bees. In the prime swarm, about 60% of the worker bees leave the original hive location with the old queen. This swarm can contain thousands to tens of thousands of bees.

The departing group of bees will be on the hunt for a suitable area to nest — which can sometimes be a home. Structures, buildings, and other objects that provide shelter on a property can become new homes for bee colonies.

When Honeybee's take up residence in our homes it can sometimes cause problems for its occupants. That's where some beekeepers will help the public by performing what's known as a cutout.

In this episode of UK Here We Grow, Tony performs a cutout from an 80-year-old lady's bathroom ceiling. She was terrified that the bees would sting her when in her back garden.

After some detective work, Tony established their true location and here you will see sections of the cutout.

This was filmed on site with a mobile phone. Footage is not high quality as having £1000 camera where honey and mess is located is not a good idea.
