Getting the Gold They Missed in the Gold Rush!
Today we're heading into an old alluvial gold mine in Victoria to work the ground with a highbanker and sluice and see what the old-timers left behind.
These old gold workings have been worked hard for generations, but that doesn't mean they've given up all their gold. We're digging into the old alluvial material, running it through the highbanker and cleaning up the sluice to see what has survived in the ground for more than a century.
The best part? You get to watch the gold recovery as it happens.
There’s something pretty special about taking material from an old Gold Rush mine and recovering the gold that was missed all those years ago.
If you enjoy Australian gold prospecting, highbanking, sluicing, alluvial gold, Victorian goldfields and old Gold Rush workings, you're going to enjoy this one.
