Homemade Vertical Wind Turbine From Barrels and Scooter Parts

To follow up on my previous DIY wind generator, I'm now building a vertical model with paddle or cup blades and an upright motor. The blades are made from cut-up 15-gallon plastic jugs, and the generator is an old 24v scooter motor. The bearings and pulleys are old wheels and junk I had lying around.

While it's not pretty, it does generate enough power to charge a cell phone! It remains to be seen if it will hold together longer than the last one!
