This might be the most accessible way to recycle plastic - no fancy machines, just a tin can and a heat source. In this video, we're melting down HDPE bottle caps tight inside a tin can. Once cooled, we turn it into one the most useful tools in our workshop - a recycled plastic mallet!
A mallet was actually the very first thing we ever made out of recycled plastic years ago, and 8 years later, it's still going strong and being used every week in the workshop.
It's a super simple and really rewarding project, and a great place to start if you want to get into plastic recycling at home.
