Radiosondes are small sensor devices sent up twice a day from weather stations around the world. They let forecasters see what the wind and atmosphere is doing, and help predict upcoming rain or storms. These are relatively cheap devices and are essentially disposable, so if you find one you can usually keep it! I used the website https://sondehub.org/ to track one that landed nearby, and found it right away! This was the first one I've ever looked for, so I was surprised to have success on the first try. Often these land in inconvenient spots, so hunting them can be a bit of a challenge!
