This was a presentation that I gave at the 2019 Southwest Kiln Conference at Gila Pueblo in Globe, Arizona. I did not film the original presentation so I gave it again at home for the camera then added the content of the slides.

Salado Polychrome pottery has been studied and discussed and written about by many archaeologists but they all seem too be missing something important. That is the white clay slip used on the outside of Salado pots. It is special and unique and hard to find. This presentation will show how special that slip is and how it may have been traded in from far away.

The Southwest Kiln Conference is an annual event focused on the art, science and technology of recreating the prehistoric pottery of the American Southwest.
