There's so much out there to complain about. Student loans, a weak job market, social security, healthcare, insurance, robots taking your jobs. It's hard. But the problem is that complaining about the bad things doesn't actually help.

As Gary Vee would say, "Complaining Isn't Practical."

If you make a list of all the things that affect someone's success, it might look like:
- Knowing the right people
- Having parents pay for college
- Having parents teach you about money
- Having parents at all
- Being naturally gifted in high-paying skills
- Being born in a financially prosperous location
- Not having to take care of your parents financially
- Receiving a substantial inheritance
- Choose to make wise financial decisions

And when you look at that list, there's only one thing that you can practically do anything about: your choices. You can't change your parents, where you were born, or your natural skill set. The only thing you can do is make choices moving forward.

On top of the lack of practicality of complaining, there's just so much to be grateful for.

If you were to choose any period in all of history that you could live in, you would choose today even with all of the bad things that happen. The internet, cell phones, air conditioning, and modern politics have made life on planet earth easier in 2018 than its ever been before.

I love the Jocko Podcast where they discuss the horrors of Unit 731 during the 1930s and 40s. It doesn't get worse than being Chinese and getting abducted by Unit 731. I won't go into the details, but if you have the stomach, I encourage you to listen to that episode. They make Hitler look nice.

When it comes to horrific times to live, you could also look at being a Celt during Gallic Wars. Everyone's life in 2018 looks like peaches and cream compared to what happened when Julius Caesar decided to wage war against the Celts.

I highly recommend Dan Carlin's Hardcore History Episode "The Celtic Holocaust" if you're interested in learning more: https://youtu.be/iT92zx790c4

The bottom line is that we have so much to be grateful for and yet most of us complain. Not only is complaining ridiculous, but it also just doesn't help us change anything.

I hope you take this message to heart and try to be more grateful and complain less, even if it's just for one day. I think you'll find that it helps you get a lot closer to where you want to go.
