During the 2011 Arab Spring, civil war broke out in Syria between incumbent dictator Bashar Al-Assad and rebel forces. As this war dragged on and Al-Assad deployed more and more gruesome methods against the civilian population, millions of Syrians decided to flee Syria to seek refuge in Europe. In 2015, the media and politicians started talking about a European migration crisis.

The perceived public panic over this so-called migration crisis would end up having huge consequences, thoroughly transforming the political landscape throughout the western world. The crisis pushed the EU to adopt anti-immigration policies that proved so "effective" that the European Union, in 2019 declared the migration crisis over.

Exactly how did the European Union manage to make the so-called migration crisis go away? At what cost?

This video sheds light on the devastating effects of the European Union's migration policies on human lives. The video explores the experiences of refugees, asylum seekers, and undocumented migrants and offers potential solutions to address the crisis. The EU's migration policies have resulted in the loss of countless lives and the displacement of millions of people.
