There is a regular looking deli in New Jersey with only one location, not much foot traffic and poor sales margins, and yet it is still worth over $100 million dollars?

How?

Well you see this is a private American company, and as an American company it is allowed to make investments into, stock bonds, real estate and even other American companies.

So what will happen is foreign investors will buy this business and then use it as a platform for buying other… more successful private companies.

The shop still needs to keep making bologna sandwiches though because otherwise it would be counted as a financial institution, rather than just a regular little business that happened to make some good investments.

Suffice to say, mergers and acquisitions are more heavily regulated than cold cuts and cheese.

So now you know How Money Works, you too can run a questionable financial institution out of a sausage shop.
